Description
A young Nepali girl accepts payments to light oil filled prayer “Butter Lamps” (also called Chomin in Sherpa) at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kathmandu, Nepal. The photo was taken in April 2018 as workers finished repainting the repaired dome, which was damaged in the 2015 earthquake. This Buddhist stupa is one of the largest in the world and is located along an ancient trade route from Tibet. Stupas typically contain relics or artifacts of Buddhist Monks. The Boudha Stupa is believed to contain the remains of Kassapa Budda.
